In one chapter of my life, I stepped back from Producing and sequestered myself in Traverse City, Michigan.
Married to an Alaskan Fisherman, he suggested after eating at one of our local resturants that I might want to open a seafood taco stand. He would hook me up with a local alaskan fisherman, and I could sell taco’s while he was away fishing, in the Bering Sea.
So, I started a fish company a sustainable Alaskan fish company. And, I bought from fishing families and small companies that caught their inventory long lined, which is the most sustainable and then flash froze it before bringing it back to shore.
This was a dynamic time, it was right when farm to table, and the whole food movement took hold, the roots were starting. I would transport the fish to my hometown and sell at farmers markets, local state co-operatives, locale eateries, and started a CSA. I got to know my community and loved it for many years.
Life changes. And, in 2016 I closed my company after 9 years.
I did the marketing and sales, in the first year $50,000 in profit. Which for a small homegrown startup was a victory!
I developed and designed the website and labels, basically all marketing materials.
A mere suggestion, turned into a passion.
I really loved providing this product to my customers.
